The government of Seoul, South Korea, announced Sunday that a deal has been made with Samsung SDS, a subsidiary a Samsung, to establish a blockchain-based platform for utilization in the public sector.

“Samsung SDS’ blockchain technology and consulting capabilities will contribute to Seoul’s leap as a top-rate global city,” said Hong Won-pyo, CEO of Samsung SDS.
Seoul plans to utilize blockchain technology to its administrative work through the city’s welfare, public safety and transportation affairs by 2022 to advance transparency procedures and increase convenience for citizens.
In April, Samsung unveiled its Nexledger blockchain platform, an enterprise-grade blockchain platform hosted in the cloud, aimed at a group of blockchain efforts.
