The two-day event will feature numerous blockchain projects, conferences, and speeches from industry leaders including Malta’s Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Justin Sun, founder of the TRON blockchain, Charles Hoskinson of IOHK, cybersecurity expert and living legend John McAfee, Hanson Robotics’ Sophia AI robot, and many more.
The first segment of day one will focus on regulatory developments and propositions within Malta.
On July 4, 2018, the Maltese Parliament officially passed three bills into law, launching the first regulatory framework for distributed ledger technologies, making Malta the first country in the world to provide regulations for operators in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space.
The second half of the day will cover applications of blockchain technology in governance and social change, financial markets, and the entertainment industry.
On day two, the summit will be the day with topics geared toward decentralized application (dApp) developers, and deployment of an ICO, among other technical talks.
The second half of day two is dedicated to cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings (ICO’s), the evolution of the banking industry, and the future of the cryptocurrency market.
An event-wide blockchain hackathon will feature teams of four to eight members competing for a $50,000 prize. In addition, 40 ICO’s will pitch their product for a chance to win $100,000.
The progressive, pro-blockchain stance of the Maltese government has already resulted in Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, re-headquartering in Malta. Furthermore, OKEx, another well-known exchange, has set up headquarters on the island.
Blockchain Daily will be on the “Blockchain Island” for the summit providing around the clock updates and uploading exclusive content to our social media accounts.
