Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told a panel at Austin’s South by Southwest Festival that the company is “working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term.”

Zuckerberg went on to state that he’s “not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today.”
According to Casey Newton of The Verge newsletter, Instagram members will “hopefully” be able to mint their own NFTs within the app.
Meta has denied any requests seeking more information regarding the project.
In October, Facebook officially announced its name change to Meta to show the company’ focus on the metaverse and virtual reality.
