Blockchain payment processing firm CoinGate has announced the addition of the XRP blockchain to its payment options for merchants, according to an official tweet.

“XRP coin owners can now use it as a means of payment at more than 4,500 shops online,” CoinGate stated in recent blog post.
The company hopes “to significantly boost its utility” by offering the first merchant focused XRP payment processing system.
CoinGate customers have the option of instant settlements in both fiat, using euros, or cryptocurrencies, including BTC, ETH, or XRP.
Recently, Japanese financial group, SBI Holdings, released a report mentioning the utilization of the Ripple blockchain, as well as, blockchain consortium R3 as a principle strategy in their plans to create a global standard for cross-border payments.
In July, CoinGate begun testing transactions, giving 100 merchants a chance to use the software, using the Bitcoin Lightning Network version of their service.
